Milton Trash Collection Delayed Due to Patriots Day

Trash and recycling pickup will be delayed by one day this week.

The Milton Department of Public Works has announced that trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day this week in observance of Patriots Day. Trash and recycling will be picked up begin Tuesday, April 16 and run until Saturday, April 20.

Milton Water Main Break Interrupts Service

A water main break on Canton Avenue will likely be repaired by the end of the day.

The Milton Department of Public Works is currently repairing a water main break on Canton Avenue that will interrupt service most of Wednesday, March 20. According to the DPW, the water main break occurred on Canton Avenue between Atherton Street and Woodland Road. The repairs are expected to be complete by the end of the day. The DPW also points out that discolored water could affect laundry.

Milton DPW Announces Trash Delay on New Facebook Page

The Milton DPW Facebook page features important announcements like today's trash and recycling collection delay.

There will be a one-day delay in trash collection due to the snow storm on Tuesday, March 19, according to the Milton Department of Public Works' Facebook page. Tuesday's trash and recycling will be picked up on Wednesday, moving Wednesday's collection to Thursday and so on. The DPW Facebook page now features important announcements like the trash and recycling delay as well as photos of equipment at work in Milton and up-to-date information for residents. Milton Animal Control Officer Commends DPW

Milton Animal Control Officer Nancy Bersani thanks the Milton DPW for its work during the recent snowstorms.

February was been the snowiest month of the winter with back-to-back weekends of significant snow fall, including 28 inches of snow on February 8 and 9. Though the storms made road travel incredibly difficult, the DPW worked to clear the roads for residents and helped town personnel like Animal Control Officer Nancy Bersani complete their duties. Bersani shared the following thank you message to the Milton Department of Public Works. I would like to thank the Milton DPW for their hard work during the past two snow storms. Although the safety of all the residents was their top priority, they also made sure that I was able to reach the Animal Shelter to care for the animals throughout the snowstorms. Milton DPW Preparing for ‘Full 30 Hours of Snow Fighting’

The Milton Department of Public Works is prepared for more than two feet of snow.

Joe Lynch, Director of the Milton Department of Public Works, and his employees are in for a long weekend. Heavy snow, up to 30 inches here in Milton, is expected to fall in New England, beginning Friday morning and concluding Saturday evening. On Thursday afternoon, the DPW was finishing up checking the 24 snow plow routes through Milton. Final repairs on equipment were being completed and backup plows and staff were secured, Lynch explained as he checked emails and fielded phone calls from his Randolph Avenue office. “We have all the routes fully covered,” Lynch said, full coverage means 72 trucks on the roads and another dozen to clear parking lots and municipal property. Trash and recycling information for December 31 and January 1.

Due to the New Year's Day holiday, the Town of Milton will have a one-day delay in trash and recycling collection, beginning Tuesday, January 1. Recycling and trash will be picked up as usual on New Year's Eve. Starting New Year's Day, regular service will be moved back one day. Will the Town of Milton Collect Trash on Christmas and Christmas Eve?

Trash and recycling information for Monday, December 24, and Tuesday, December 25.

Due to the Christmas Day holiday, the Town of Milton will have a one-day delay in trash and recycling collection, beginning Tuesday, December 25. Recycling and trash will be picked up as usual on Christmas Eve. Starting tomorrow, regular service will be moved back one day, so Tuesday’s collection will be Wednesday, and the Wednesday collection will be Thursday and so on. Yard waste collection is also complete for the year. The town will not pick up any bags left out. Yard waste collection will resume the week of April 8, 2013. Routine Maintenance May Cause Water Discoloration in Milton

Work on Milton's water system inside of Canton Avenue, Brook Road, Reedsdale Road and to all connecting streets may cause discolored water. This water is still safe for drinking and cooking.

The Town of Milton is performing routine maintenance on its’ water system which has resulted in some discoloring of the water in some parts of Town. The area affected runs inside of Canton Avenue, Brook Road, Reedsdale Road and to all connecting streets. If discolored water does occur, it is a result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. While it is still safe for drinking, cooking and other uses, please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents near this location should check water clarity before washing any white or lighter colored laundry during this period of work.
