Milton Town Clerk Prepares for Rare Dual Election

The Milton town election and the special senate election primary will both be held on Tuesday, April 30.

Milton voters will have two reasons to go to the polls on Tuesday, April 30 with the town election and special senate primary falling on the same day. "We have two separate elections going on," said Town Clerk Susan Galvin. That means two check-in tables and two ballots. Voters will be able to place both ballots in Milton's AccuVote machines, making the task of counting the votes a more streamlined process. Galvin plans to staff additional election volunteers to account for the extra ballot. She has some names for new poll workers and a sizable pool since the presidential election was so recent. Milton Speaks Candidates Night Begins Election Forum Schedule

The first of three forums for the 2013 Milton Town Election was hosted by Milton Speaks and Milton Access Television on Tuesday evening.

Candidates for each contested race in the April 30 Milton Town Election appeared at the 17th Annual Milton Speaks Candidates Night at the Milton Access Television studio on Tuesday, March 26. The televised forum, which was moderated by Bernard Lynch, and ran nearly three hours. All of the candidates for town office were present with the exception of five constable candidates. Incumbent Edward Villard and challenger Robert Mason were the only candidates in attendance. Representatives from Milton Patch, 02186 My Town Matters and the Milton Times asked questions of the candidates. Each candidate was given a minute to answer each question and three minutes to provide a closing remark. The candidates night will be televised many times before …

A representative from Milton Patch will be asking questions of the candidates at Tuesday's Milton Speaks Candidates Night.

Candidates in contested races have been invited to the annual Milton Speaks Candidates Night, which will be broadcast on Milton Access Television, on Tuesday, March 26. Milton Patch will once again be part of the panel asking the candidate's questions. Selectman, School Committee and Planning Board are all contested races this year. Robert Sweeney is running for re-election for the first time as a member of the Milton Board of Selectmen. Ballot Set for Milton Town Election, Several Contests

The Milton Town Election is Tuesday, April 30.

There are several contested races and one notable candidate not seeking re-election on the recently released ballot for the April 30 Milton Town Election. Current chair of the Milton School Committee, Glenn Pavlicek will not run for re-election. There are, however, three candidates for the two available seats on the School Committee. Rebecca Padera, who took the seat vacated by Denis Keohane when he was elected to the Board of Selectmen last spring, will run for a full three-year term. Senior Center St. Patrick's Day: Singing Selectman, Candidates, Irish Step Dancers

The Milton Council on Aging's St. Patrick's Day celebration featured Irish step dancers, the candidates for the Milton Board of Selectmen and a pair of songs from first-term Selectman Denis Keohane.

For the 12th year, the Milton Council on Aging hosted Milton seniors for a corned beef and cabbage dinner to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Irish dancers from Clifton Academy and Selectman Denis Keohane provided entertainment. The five dancers donned brightly colored dresses and wowed the large crowd during a few songs. Keohane, who was elected as a Selectman last April, returned to the COA for the second year to sing a few Irish tunes. The two candidates vying to join Keohane on the Board of Selectmen, incumbent Bob Sweeney and challenger Katie Conlon were in attendance. This year's Milton Town Election will be held on Tuesday, April 30. If you're running for office, you can upload your announcement right to Milton Patch. Candidates who have entered any of the town wide races or are seeking election as a Town Meeting member, can upload their announcements here. Announcements with photos of the candidate will be featured on the homepage of Milton Patch. Incumbent Town Meeting Members must file a written notice of intention with the Town Clerk at Town Hall by 5 p.m. on March, 5. The deadline to file election papers is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12.
