Winner: Best Nature Photo

No, the main photo on the story is not the winner. Click on the photos to see the winner!

The photos of nature submitted this week rivaled National Geographic. It was impressive how talented Patch readers are at photography. Unfortunately, we can have only one winner. Congratulations go to Greg Frost for his photo #45 of lightening over Lake Sysladobsis. This is part of Patch’s summer Picture of the Week series, where we’re asking you for your best pictures on a certain topic each week. We’ve added a little incentive. The winning submission will get a $75 gift card, plus bragging rights. Next week's category is A Day at the Beach! We’ll be taking photo submissions each week from 9 a.m. Tuesday through noon Friday. Voting will begin at 4 a.m. Saturday and end at 9 a.m. Monday, so make sure to check back over the weekend to vote …

Upload Your Nature Photo, Weekly Prize

Add a picture of your favorite nature scene and you could win a $75 gift certificate in our Picture of the Week contest.

Ah, New England and nature. Snow, heat, cold, fog, pelting hail and wind-driven horizontal rain, we have it. We also have hurricanes, tornadoes, Nor'easters, lunar tides, coyotes, deer, ticks, scallops, and sharks! Salt marsh, beach, ocean, woods, meadows, Old Squaws, waterfront farms, cranberry bogs, cranes and osprey! There are so many opportunities to snap a picture of nature. Too many to list here. If you've taken a great picture of a nature scene, share it with Patch and your neighbors. Let us know in the caption: your first and last name, what town you're from, where the  photo was snapped, and any other information you think we should know. Photos of nature in from outside New England are OK. Braintree editor Joseph Markman and …

I don't have a camera to take great pictures but our hummingbirds were copulating right on our feeder. Fascinating but no pictures.   more ›
