Residents Sought for Milton Master Plan Committee

A 10-person advisory committee is being assembled to assist the Milton Planning Board with the town's Comprehensive Master Plan.

The Milton Planning Board is currently seeking five Milton residents to round out the 10-person Master Plan Committee (MPC). The committee will serve as an informal advisory group for the Planning Board during the updating process for the town’s Comprehensive Master Plan. The members will serve one-year terms until the Master Plan is approved by Town Meeting or the Planning Board decides to dissolve the committee. According to the Master Plan Committee Charge, located on townofmilton.org, “Each of the following entities shall choose from its membership one member of the MPC: the Planning Board, the Milton Board of Selectmen, the Milton School Committee, the Milton Warrant Committee and the Milton Chamber of Commerce.” The Planning Board …

Meet Milton Planning Board Chair Emily Innes

This week’s Inside Town Hall, the series focusing on Milton committee and board members, features Emily Innes of the town’s Planning Board.

Milton’s Planning Board is one of the most prominent boards in our local government with its members often present at town meetings and business openings. But when they are not in the public spotlight, the members of the Planning Board work to improve all things concerning zoning and subdivision in town. As Planning Board Chair Emily Innes explained, the board is responsible for such tasks as review and approval of subdivisions, stone walls on scenic roads, site plans, changes to local buildings and proposing zoning changes. The board is also in charge of the Master Plan, the plan that documents the entire geographic and commercial layout of Milton.
