Will you be driving on Thanksgiving night? If so, you can snag a free cup of joe courtesy of the state. And if you're hitting the Turnpike on Wednesday afternoon, you can also get on I-90 (for one hour) without having to pay the toll. It's that time of year again. Turkey and football; pumpkin pie and family gatherings. This year will be a low-key Thanksgiving. The North-South game in the morning and one of the sister's for dinner later in the day. It will be small this year just my family and hers. Public and private schools in Milton chipped in on the Milton Community Food Pantry's effort to provide a Thanksgiving meal to local families.
Today, families all over the country will sit down to a traditional Thanksgiving meal. For over 180 less-fortunate Milton families the meal wouldn’t have been possible without donations from the Milton Community Food Pantry. Last Thursday, volunteers collected and sorted items, which would become Thanksgiving dinner just seven days later. Students at Milton High School as well as Tucker, Collicot, Cunningham and Glover collected items throughout the month. Fontbonne Academy, Centre School, St. Agatha’s, St. Mary of the Hills ninth graders and several non-school organizations also took donations. While over 40 states are currently in the midst of their high school football playoffs, Massachusetts has a unique tradition like no other place in the country: Thanksgiving Day football. Tomorrow morning in Milton, Braintree and Milton High Schools will face each other on Thanksgiving for the 82nd time.
