Nah! indeed --There are enough fumes already polluting Circuit Avenue in the summer, as it is.

ReplyI look forward to all that is to come, since the Oak Bluffs Library is my "home" library, and Sondra sounds like the perfect person to bring forth creative community-building endeavors.

ReplyHeh! Well, the Southern Woodlands are my home turf, so to speak. I often amble around there, though Featherstone is at the "other" end of my usual trek. I access the trail system via an opening on the loop of Pondview Drive, which is part of "Vineyard Heights" (the "heights" being about 100 feet or so above sea level.) The key is the Ancient Way, which forms a spine, around and through which most of the other paths cross or adjoin. I am so thrilled the system has been (mostly) preserved. ---Though you many think it a warren. I just love being there. (I'd love to see your haunted house!) Since the Woodlands are bounded on one side by Barnes Road, and County Road on the other, it is hard to imagine the special talent it must have taken to get get completely "lost!" Must have been something about the nature of camaraderie, engrossing conversation, and loop-de-loop.

ReplyUh oh!!!!! Dan's spilled the beans. Let's hope the seasonal residents do not see this, catch wind of Islanders' off-season transgressions. . . (lovely poem, though, beckoning some of us to follow. . .)

Well, the air quality is bound to be better at the East Chop Lighthouse, and we often walk up there, sit on the benches, looking out to sea a bit, then walk back. That works for me, as well. So many fine Vineyard spots to considering scattering. . .

ReplyI trust you will not be leaving us any time soon. I know you oppose the roundabout, as in "over my dead body," but it appears construction is imminent. . .
But if it is to be, perhaps an ashen fertilizing legacy would be a good thing for those flower beds. In fact, it may be, that should the roundabout come to pass, I will be unable to pass that way, those beds again, without thinking of you. And that is some roundabout memorial.

Replythe "nefarious law" of *eminent domain* may, or may not be imminent, but there you have it. (Just for the record.)

Holly, would the memorial garden be the one just below the main gallery at Featherstone? I know there is also a walking maze. Or? I know I've sat in the one by the house, and found it very peaceful and comforting, and had wondered how it came to be; it seemed so personal and intentional.
